Bird Blitch, Co-founder & CEO

Bird co-founded Patientco in late 2009 due to his own frustrating billing experience following the birth of his first child. Combined with his expertise in the payments industry, he recognized an opportunity to create a faster, easier, and more secure payment experience for both patients and providers. His dedication to improving patient payment models led to his recent appointment to the HIMSS Revenue Cycle Improvement Task Force.

Prior to creating Patientco, Bird co-founded and served as CEO for BroadSource Inc. While transforming the venture-funded company into one of the leading Telecom Expense Management companies, BroadSource was twice listed by INC magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States.

He also serves as an Advisory Board member of the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), a start-up accelerator that helps technology entrepreneurs launch and build successful companies.

Bird is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering.


 Joshua Silver, Co-founder & CSO

Joshua co-founded Patientco after seeing an opportunity to take his expertise in consumer-centric product design to the industry that needed it most. As VP of Product Development, Joshua is responsible for Patientco’s technology strategy and product direction as well as customer acquisition.

Prior to Patientco, Joshua was a member of the International Product Development team at, specializing in product integration with key partners such as Virgin Media, AOL, and Lycos.

Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he graduated with Highest Honors and was the recipient of the prestigious President’s Scholarship Award. In 2014, Joshua was named “CIO of the Year” by the Georgia CIO Leadership Association (GCLA).


 Kurt Lovell, CFO/COO

As Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Kurt has helped shape a solution and organization with unparalleled client retention. Kurt leads the financial, operations, client success, product, engineering, and compliance domains. His stewardship of all internal operations at the company led to him being named to the 2016 Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 40 Under 40 List. He was a 2015 finalist for the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s CFO of the Year award.

Prior to Patientco, Kurt served as the Vice President and Managing Director of Citect Americas, a leader in industrial automation and manufacturing execution software. Kurt began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers advising underperforming companies on turnaround strategies.

Kurt is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Finance.


 Sean Joyce, VP, Product and Engineering

Sean Joyce is responsible for leading both the Product and Engineering teams at Patientco. His primary focus is on crafting a product roadmap that aligns with the company’s strategic plan. His responsibilities also include feature development, hosting and application security, and leading Patientco’s team of software engineers.

Prior to Patientco, Sean was Director of User Experience for ADP’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO) business. While there he launched the PEO industry’s first Affordable Care Act compliance software for employers.

Sean holds BA in Computer Science from Eastern Michigan University and an MBA from Emory University.


Melissa Honabach, VP, Operations

Melissa oversees the customer experience for both patients and providers, implementations and client training, and internal vendor management. She is credited with Patientco’s excellent customer service reputation and charged with maintaining it.

Before assuming her position as VP, she was previously the Executive Director of Customer Experience at Patientco. Prior to that, she was the co-founder and COO of Dragonfruit Studios, an Atlanta-based original content studio focused on creating, developing, and producing multi-platform entertainment properties with a specific focus on children’s and youth-oriented entertainment.

Melissa holds a MBA from University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a BA Political Science from Bucknell University.


Maria Frantz, VP, Sales Operations

Maria oversees all sales planning and leadership, establishing a standard of quality, accuracy, and process consistency. She ensures that the sales team is aligned with the other teams within the company.

Prior to Patientco, Maria Frantz was VP of Operations for AchieveIt which covered key areas; customer success, training, technical support and consultative services. Maria has worked with clients to create over 1000 strategic and operation plans through strategic planning software. Maria also founded a patient engagement technology company, Medical Home Run, which encouraged primary care patients to interact with their patient portals, take patient satisfaction surveys and learn about chronic diseases during the office visit. She has been certified by the American Society of Quality as a Lean Six-Sigma Green belt and is a recipient of the Merck’s Outstanding Women Award.

Maria holds a Master of Science in Statistics from Rutgers University, Masters of Business Administration as well as a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.


Louise Cherry Barber, VP, Culture and Experience

Louise is focused on the culture and experiences it gives to all individual who make up Patientco. Culture is part of our strategic success. As we grow, the components of our culture that got us here need to move forward where some elements will change and evolve. She spends her time focused on the people who make up Patientco.

Before Patientco, Louise was the Sr. Director of Talent Management at Earthlink, where she held several roles prior to her promotion.

She holds a BS Business Administration from Wake Forest University and an MBA from Georgia State University.
