In just a few short weeks, the Patientco team will head south to Orlando, Florida for the 2019 HFMA Annual Conference. Every year, we look forward to this event. It’s a great opportunity to learn how we can continue improving the business of healthcare. Of course, we also love networking with our peers. If you’ll be attending the show, stop by booth #287 and say hello!
Learn How Piedmont is Evolving its Revenue Cycle
The program agenda for HFMA Annual is packed full of interesting content. In fact, one session that we’re especially looking forward to will feature several speakers from Piedmont Healthcare, which is one of our clients. The session, “8 Initiatives to Support Patient Financial Care” will take place on Wednesday, Jun. 26 from 8 to 9:15 a.m. in room W308.
Piedmont’s Allyson Keller, executive director for the Patient Connection Center; Andrea Mejia, executive director of Patient Financial Care; and Brian Unell, VP of Revenue Cycle Transformation and Integration will be the speakers. Attendees will learn how Piedmont is evolving its revenue cycle to support patient financial care. This involves everything from scheduling to customer service post-discharge. Furthermore, the session will follow a case study format, so attendees will walk away with new strategies and potential technologies to consider using at their own Health System to improve its patient financial care journey. Don’t miss out on these insights during HFMA Annual!
Hear nThrive Speak on Managing and Preventing Denials
Additionally, our friends at nThrive will present at HFMA Annual, “The New Paradigm: Managing and Preventing Denials in a Clinically Driven Revenue Cycle.” John Hataway, manager of Advisory Solutions for nThrive and Kathie Kirkland, director of Patient Financial Services for Maricopa Integrated Health System will lead the discussion. Taking place on Tues., Jun. 25 from 2:45 to 3:25 p.m., this breakout session will explore the differences between conventional back-end denials management compared to a clinically driven denials management program. Moreover, attendees will learn how to more effectively appeal denials, manage payer audits while reducing or preventing denials.
Thinking Like a Consumer at HFMA Annual
Clearly, we’re excited about several sessions at HFMA Annual. At Patientco, we talk a lot about the impact of consumerism on healthcare. That’s why we’ll attend this breakout session, “Personalizing the Patient Financial Experience: Thinking Like a Consumer.” Sue Gillies, VP of Revenue Cycle Management at Crystal Run Health and Vicki McKinney, chief operating officer and chief revenue officer at WESTMED Practice Partners will lead the session. Attendees will hear how updated engagement and payment methods result in a better patient financial experience. In addition, speakers will detail the value of machine learning and analytics. During the session, attendees will learn how these tools help Health Systems deliver a high-quality, personalized experience that puts the patient at the center of the billing process.
Session topics range from payment trends and revenue cycle process improvement to accounting and budgeting. Therefore, we plan to make the most of HFMA Annual this year. If you have plans to attend, be sure to visit Patientco’s booth #287. We’ll have several executives there who would be happy to chat with you about ways your Health System can improve its financial performance with a more consumer-friendly billing and payment experience.
